Don’t Wait for Mice to Multiply
The one thing that is known for sure about mice is that they love to make their homes inside of dwellings, and they multiply. The common house mouse is a slender gray small creature with large ears, and while it may look cute and be a favorite of cartoon lovers, there is nothing cute about them once they enter a home as they are troublesome for many households. Once the little critters get inside, they can multiply and grow from one to many in no time. The key is to keep them out and if they get in–get rid of them fast! Brezden Pest Control, the leading San Luis Obispo exterminator knows how to end a mouse problem before it gets out of hand.
House mice are nocturnal, which means they travel at night when everything is very quiet. With nothing to disturb them, they can pilfer through kitchen garbage, cabinets, and open snacks left on counters. Because they are prolific climbers, they can get into attics, on closet shelves and just about anywhere they want to go. They are hard to spot even in the daytime because if they come out during the day, they generally travel very quietly along baseboards, or run and hide under furniture until it is quiet enough to make a get-a-way without being noticed. The key to keeping mice out of the house is to keep things tight. This means weather stripping around doors, sealing cracks with caulk, and keeping the areas around a home's foundation clean and free of clutter. However, even with all of these precautions, mice still find a way to get in–it is just what they do. Mice can squeeze through an opening the size of the tip of the little finger!
Some signs of mice infestations include bits of torn paper, hair, leaves, etc. in corners, which means that a mouse is building nest. Another sign is a mouse dropping here and there. Mouse droppings look like little oblong chocolate sprinkles, but rather than chocolate colored, they about are blackish-gray and 1/4 to 1/2-inch long, with pointed ends. These are tell-tale signs that mice have been around. Mouse droppings are often found in cupboards, along baseboards, under furniture and in drawers or anywhere mice frequent.
