Halloween is a great time for scaring people with all forms of creepy, crawly critters. We love to hang fake bats from the chandeliers, and put giant inflatable spiders on the front lawn to scare trick-or-treaters. But, if your home or business has a problem with real bats, spiders, or ants it’s time to call the home pest control experts at Brezden.
Our local pest control company has been protecting homes and businesses in San Luis Obispo from pests since 1980. Before it gets too scary, give us a call and we’ll conduct a pest inspection and provide a free estimate for our state-of-the-art pest control services.
This is also the time of year when we start to think about getting our homes ready for winter. Ask us about Thermal Acoustic Pest Control or T•A•P insulation from Pest Control Insulation Systems. This blown-in, eco-friendly cellulose insulation will keep bugs out and warm air in.
Have a Happy Halloween!

Scary Halloween Bug & Pest Stories
While we are very serious about our home and commercial pest control services, we like to have a little Halloween fun, too. In the spirit of Halloween, here are some of the scariest bug stories we could find:
“The Birds”: The terrifying movie classic found its inspiration when Alfred Hitchcock remembered a newspaper article he read in 1961 about hordes of dead birds washing up onto the streets in the quaint, seaside California town of Capitola. Birds can easily become a nuisance if their numbers grow too large, or if they start nesting in your house, roof, or eaves. For bird control at Brezden we use bird netting to deter nesting birds, and sensitive traps to capture pigeons.
Bedbugs: An adult bedbug can survive up to one year without feeding, but they will move distances at night for a blood meal which is why infestations occur in beds commonly. Merely washing bed linens or other infested areas might not eliminate the source. Professional bed bug control services determine the places where bed bugs are living and eradicate them right at the source.
Rats: No matter how airtight you might think your home is, rats can always find a way to get in. They can get in through any type of vent, move small barriers that are blocking their path, squeeze through tiny holes, or swim through the water pipes. Our rat control services can help protect your home from these pesky creatures.
Bats: Inspiring many vampire movies, bats have an insatiable hunger. Their sharp teeth shred the food they find into tiny digestible pieces. On a good night, they can consume about 50% of their body weight – imagine a hundred pound person trying to eat fifty pounds a day! They forage for fruit, insects, and sometimes blood. At Brezden Pest Control, our bat control experience has shown that the best way to keep bats out of your house is to put up netting to prevent re-entry.
Halloween Pest Q & A with Your San Luis Obispo Pest Control Experts
Do bats carry rabies? The good news is that only 5% of bats are likely to carry rabies. The bad news is that, unless the offending bat is caught after the bite, painful treatment for rabies can’t be avoided. Bats with rabies have been known to bite humans as well as household pets. Our bat control services can help keep everyone safe.
Can bed bugs spread disease? Bed bugs impact residents of San Luis Obispo and communities in and around the Central Coast of California. Bed bugs suck the blood from humans and animals, usually while they are asleep. While bed bugs do not actually spread disease, their parasitic habits are uncomfortable yet avoidable with proper bed bug control.
What should I do about a dead animal on my property? It is usually best not to touch or move the dead animal yourself, as it may be infected with some type of disease. Call Brezden for all your dead animal removal needs.
